Burger King eyes Sta. Lucia’s Omolon

Burger King isn’t done with its wheeling and dealing yet. Barely two weeks after unloading Gary David and Chico Lanete, the Whopper are ready to let go of another big man just to get the services of Sta. Lucia’s hardworking forward Bitoy Omolon.

Philippine Basketball Association chairman and Burger King team manager Lito Alvarez told GMANew.TV that the squad is willing to give up either Carlo Sharma or JR Quinahan in exchange for the 6’4 forward.

According to Alvarez, they are still in the middle of negotiations as the Realtors don’t want to settle on getting a big man, but rather want to get another bruising player in rookie Ronnie Matias.

The Burger King executive believes a big man is somebody the Realtors now need.

“The way I see it, parang kailangan ng Sta. Lucia ng isang malaking player pa panghalili kay Marlou (Aquino)," said Alvarez.

Burger King coach Yeng Guiao, a fan of hardworking players who never back down from challenges, doesn’t want to give up Matias, who has now emerged as one of the key players of the Whopper.

“Knowing coach Yeng, mahilig yan sa matatapang kaya ayaw pawalan si Matias. We’re still talking now. But we feel we really need somebody like Omolon to save our future this conference," said Alvarez.

Just recently, the struggling Whopper shipped David and Lanete to the Coca-Cola Tigers in exchange for Alex Cabagnot and Wesley Gonzales.

The move was made to give immediate remedy to the team’s weakening guard spot due to the suspension of ace sentinel Wynne Arboleda. The man known as "The Snatcher" has been suspended for the rest of the season for mauling a Smart-Gilas fan.
