MANILA, Philippines--Ryan Gregorio still can't sleep early, quite unusual for someone who has just won a Philippine Basketball Association championship.
“I’m still savoring the feeling,” Gregorio said recently, referring to Purefoods’ four-game sweep of the Alaska Aces in the KFC-PBA Philippine Cup Finals two weeks ago.
“And of course, I am excited about our chances in the coming conference.”
Purefoods will carry the name Derby Ace Llamados in the Fiesta Cup Conference which fires off March 21.
After watching clips of Lorenzo Wade’s performances in college and in the Greek league, Gregorio said he believes Purefoods will have the best import next conference.
“He’s a slasher, a perimeter threat and he knows how to defend,” Gregorio said.
Wade’s recent statistics with the Kavala/Panorama squad in Greece however didn’t reflect how great a player he is, averaging just 10.7 points in close to 27 playing minutes.
